Community Advocacy Support
Our Family Advocacy and Support Services provide free legal and social support for individuals experiencing family law issues related to family violence. Through this service, duty lawyers offer expert legal advice on parenting arrangements, Family Violence Restraining Orders, protection and care matters, urgent property matters, and divorce. Social support workers are also available to help manage risk, provide counselling, offer in-court support, and assist with referrals to essential services such as police, refuges, and housing providers. In addition, our Domestic Violence Advocacy Support Service offers free support and advocacy for adult victims and survivors of family and domestic violence, ensuring they receive the help, information, and protection they need during difficult times.
The support provided by this service includes:
- Information about safe accommodation options
- Referral to other relevant agencies
- Advocacy on victim's behalf to other agencies
- Support with legal and court proceedings
- Police liaison
- Education and information about family and domestic violence
- Emotional Support
Referrals and support with referrals or dealing with:
- Counselling and separation services
- Residential Tenancy issue (including private and public housing)
- Emergency Food Relief Referrals
- Education and Training Referrals
- Support with obtaining drivers license or other identification documents
- Assist with speaking to Utility providers when in financial hardship
